Chessock Named American Attack Player of the Week; Magazu Honorable Mention
April 21, 2025 | Lacrosse
IRVING, Texas – East Carolina lacrosse's Rachel Chessock has earned her first career American Athletic Conference Attack Player of the Week recognition, the league announced Monday. Additionally, Emma Magazu earned an Honorable Mention nod.
Â
Chessock's honor was well-earned after recording a career high with five goals in the team's win over Charlotte on Saturday, including a free position goal in the fourth quarter which gave the Pirates a 13-10 lead which ultimately proved insurmountable. The junior from Winston-Salem bested her previous high of four goals set earlier in the season.
Â
Chessock, who also posted two draw controls and one ground ball in the game, has previously earned one Honorable Mention honor this season.
Â
Magazu, a senior from Newtown, Conn., posted three ground balls and three caused turnovers to pace the ECU defense in the win. With that performance, she is now just one caused turnover short (24) of the program record for a single season (Giacolone, 25 in 2023).
Â
This is Magazu's second time on the weekly honor roll, having previously earned Defensive Player of the Week recognition on Feb. 10.
Â
Chessock, Magazu and the Pirates will be back in action in Johnson Stadium on Tuesday at 6 p.m. as they host William & Mary.
