IRVING, Texas - East Carolina lacrosse's Emma Magazu has been named the American Conference Defensive Player of the Week yet again, the league announced Monday. Additionally, Jaime Behar, Rachel Chessock and Kayla Wilkes earned Honorable Mention nods.
Magazu, a graduate student from Newtown, Conn., earns this recognition, her second Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season, after posting a line of four ground balls and three caused turnovers in a 12-9 win over Elon. Magazu is the reigning American Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
Behar, a senior from Mineola, N.Y., finds herself on the Honorable Mention list for the second time this season thanks to a seven-save effort in the Elon win. In so doing, Behar made her 250th career save, the second player in program history to reach the milestone.
Chessock, a senior from Winston-Salem, led the Pirates with four goals in the Elon win. A season high, this was Chessock's third career game with four-or-more goals.
Wilkes, a senior from Sinking Spring, Pa., put up another impressive stat line with five points on two goals and three assists, three ground balls, two caused turnovers and one draw control in the win.
The Pirates are back in action on Wednesday as they head to Durham to take on No. 23/24 Duke in a 5 p.m. game.
