Magazu Earns Defensive Player of the Week Nod

IRVING, Texas - East Carolina lacrosse's Emma Magazu has been named the American Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. Additionally, goalkeeper Jaime Behar and midfielder Kayla Wilkes earned Honorable Mention recognition.
Magazu, a graduate student from Newtown, Conn., helped the Pirates to a 15-4 season opening win over Queens on Sunday, compiling a stat line of six ground balls and two caused turnovers. Those six ground balls tie her career best and rank fourth in program history. Magazu is the reigning American Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
Meanwhile, Behar, a senior from Mineola, N.Y., made eight saves while allowing just four goals in the game for a .667 save percentage. Wilkes, a senior from Sinking Sping, Pa., posted an impressive stat line of two goals, two assists, four caused turnovers and four draw controls. Four caused turnovers ties her career best which ranks fifth in program history.
The Pirates are back in action on Saturday at noon as they welcome Coastal Carolina to Bill Clark Homes Field at Johnson Stadium.
