Behar Tabbed Goalkeeper of the Week
March 23, 2026 | Lacrosse
IRVING, Texas – East Carolina lacrosse senior Jaime Behar has been named the American Conference's Goalkeeper of the Week, the league announced Monday. Additionally, defender Emma Magazu has earned Honorable Mention recognition.
Â
It was a day to remember for Behar, a native of Mineola, N.Y. who celebrated her Senior Day on Saturday, making 12 saves and allowing just six goals in an 8-7 win over Temple. But for a fourth-quarter green card, Behar would have played the full 60, making some critical saves to help pace the team to victory.
Â
The crowning achievement of Behar's day was a game-saving save with 38 seconds remaining in the game. She also made two additional saves on the prior Temple possession which allowed ECU to get the ball back, resulting in Kayla Wilkes' game-winning goal with 1:36 remaining.
Â
For her part, Magazu, a graduate student from Newtown, Conn., put up an impressive stat line of four ground balls and two caused turnovers. The reigning American Conference Defensive Player of the Year continued to be a defensive stalwart for the Pirates and played a significant role in the final defensive stand, helping the defense see the clock to zero and secure a significant win over the previously 8-2 Owls.
Â
Behar has three previous Honorable Mention nods this season and Magazu has once previously been named Defensive Player of the Week.
Â
The Pirates are back in action on Saturday at noon as they take on No. 1 North Carolina in Chapel Hll.
