GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina returns to Max R. Joyner Family Stadium this week to begin a four-game homestand starting on Wednesday evening when the Pirates face No. 19 Stanford for the first time since 2012.
First pitch is set for 6 p.m. and the game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Evan Budrovich (play-by-play) and Brittany Hoyt (analyst) on the call.Â
ECU comes off of its third conference series win last weekend, defeating Memphis 6-3 and 16-5 in the second and third games of the series. The Pirates are off to their best nine-game start ever in American Conference play and have won three straight at home. Five players are batting .300 or better in the lineup, led by Kanisha Anderson's average of .364 and team-high 40 hits. Anna Sawyer (.340), Trinity Nichols (.346), Jenna Krol (.341) and Macey Ciamillo (.316) round out ECU's top hitters based on batting average. Sydney Rainford (2.79 ERA, 36 Ks) and Julia Apostolakos (3.53 ERA, 57 Ks) led the Pirates in the circle. ECU is 1-1 against ranked opponents this season.
Scouting the Cardinal
Taryn Kern leads Stanford at the plate with a .443 batting average and nine home runs while Zoe Prystajko is the team's top arm in the circle with an ERA of 2.04 and 114 strikeouts to just 28 walks.

Stanford leads the all-time series with East Carolina 2-0 and Wednesday will be the first meeting since 2012 when Stanford won 3-1 and the Cardinal's first game at Max R. Joyner Family Stadium.
