GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina continues its homestand this weekend when the Pirates host UAB in American Conference action at Max R. Joyner Family Stadium.
The series starts on Friday with first pitch set for 5 p.m., followed by games on Saturday (2 p.m.) and Sunday (Noon). All games will be streamed on ESPN+ and admission to the games is free for fans.
ECU comes off of a 7-2 loss at home to No. 19 Stanford on Wednesday night and the Pirates are off to their best nine-game start ever in American Conference play. Five players are batting .300 or better in the lineup, led by American Conference Honorable Mention Trinity Nichols' average of .369. Kanisha Anderson (.360) leads the team in hits with 41 and extra base hits with 10 while Anna Sawyer (.340), Jenna Krol (.330) and Macey Ciamillo (.305) are all batting above .300 in the lineup. Sydney Rainford (3.07 ERA, 37 Ks) and Julia Apostolakos (3.55 ERA, 60 Ks) lead the Pirates in the circle.
Scouting the Blazers
Hannah Dorsett (.316, 36 hits) leads UAB at the plate while the Blazers use four arms in the circle, led by Olivia Cummings' 26 strikeouts.
Series History
The all-time series between the East Carolina and UAB is tied at 25-25 after the Blazers took last year's high-scoring series that featured a combined 38 runs from both teams. UAB also took its last series in Greenville against the Pirates two seasons ago, winning the last two games after dropping the series opener.
