March 29, 2026 | Softball
GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina softball team dropped its fourth straight game on Sunday afternoon as the Pirates lost to UAB, 4-2, at Max R. Joyner Family Stadium.
Alexis Morgan led the Pirates (22-15, 6-6 American) with the two hits but it was another struggle offensively for ECU as the team recorded just five hits on the day.Â
UAB quickly got out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI double and the Blazers extended their lead to 2-0 on a sac fly in the top of the third inning.Â
Two more runs came home for the Blazers in the top of the fourth but the Pirates' offense found some life in the bottom of the inning as Gabby Fowler hit an RBI single to make the score 4-1.
The Pirates pulled with two runs in the bottom of the fifth after a UAB error and ECU had a final chance to tie or win the game with two runners on in the bottom of the seventh but the Pirates hit into three straight outs to end the game.
Julia Apostolakos (11-6) took the loss in the circle while Olivia Cummings (7-6) and Hannah Cole picked up their second win and save of the weekend respectively.
