GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina returns to the diamond this Tuesday as the Pirates will travel to Wilmington on Tuesday to face UNCW at 5 p.m. before returning home to host in-state foe Charlotte for a conference series from Thursday to Saturday.
First pitch for the series opener at Max R. Joyner Family Stadium between Charlotte and East Carolina will be at 5 p.m. on Thursday and all three games in the series will be streamed on ESPN+ and are free for the public to attend.
The Pirates will look to bounce back from a tough week that saw the team go 0-4 at home with a 7-2 loss to a ranked opponent in Stanford before getting swept by UAB over the weekend. ECU's offense struggled all week to produce runs with just seven total over those four games. Kanisha Anderson leads the Pirates at the plate with a .360 batting average and 45 hits while Trinity Nichols (.344), Anna Sawyer (.327) and Jenna Krol (.314) round out the Pirates' top hitters. Sydney Rainford (2.79 ERA, 44 Ks) and Julia Apostolakos (3.40 ERA, 68 Ks) lead ECU in the circle.
Scouting the Seahawks
Cassidy Relay (.490) leads the Seahawks' offense while UNCW boasts a stingy pitching staff, led by Camille Hamilton (2.03 ERA, 72 Ks) and Lynsie Herman (2.63 ERA).
Series History
East Carolina leads the all-time series with UNCW 84-23 after defeating the Seahawks, 6-1, in Greenville back in February. The Pirates are 39-13 against UNCW on the road.
Scouting the 49ers
Jenna Lord (.441, 7 HRs) leads a Charlotte offense that has hit 33 home runs while Aubrey Yarnall (3.94 ERA) leads Charlotte in the circle.
Series History
East Carolina leads the all-time series with Charlotte 29-14 after the 49ers took the season series last year but the Pirates won in the quarterfinals of the American Conference Softball Championship. ECU is 13-4 against Charlotte at home.
