Pirates Shut Out At UNCW, 6-0

Wilmington, N.C. – The East Carolina softball team dropped its fifth straight game, falling to UNCW, 6-0, on Wednesday afternoon at Boseman Field.
The Pirates (22-16) only recorded five hits on the day as Jenna Krol, Kanisha Anderson, Macey Ciamillo, Trinity Nichols and Michaela Weber each tallied a knock.
After going down one-two-three in the top of the first, the Pirates found themselves down 2-0 going into the second inning after UNCW recorded three hits in the bottom of the first.
The Seahawks tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the third and another in the bottom of the fourth to extend their lead to 6-0 while ECU's offense struggled to generate hits or runs heading into the sixth inning.
ECU finally got multiple runners on base in the top of the sixth but the Pirates were unable to take advantage, stranding all three runners.Â
Weber got her second career hit in the top of the seventh and the Pirates got two runners on but once again were unable to score and avoid the shutout.
Sydney Rainford (6-7) took the loss in the circle.
