GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina returns home to host Wichita State and begin American Conference play starting Friday at 5 p.m. at Max R. Joyner Family Stadium.
All three games will be streamed on ESPN+ with Patrick Johnson (play-by-play) calling all three games and Spencer Pattison (analyst) calling Friday and Saturday and Faith Cain (analyst) calling Sunday's game.
ECU comes into the weekend off of a 2-1 midweek win over Campbell on Wednesday, led by Julia Apostolakos' career-high six strikeouts in the complete game win. Jenna Krol and Macey Ciamillo both lead ECU at the plate with a .394 batting average while Anna Sawyer is currently hitting .379 and American Conference Honorable Mention Kanisha Anderson is batting .323. Sydney Rainford leads the Pirates' arms in the circle with a 3.07 ERA and Apostolakos leads the team in strikeouts with 42.
Scouting the Shockers
Ausha Moore (.444) and Gabby Scott (.429) lead the Shockers' offense while Riley Nihart leads the team in strikeouts with 31.
Series History
Wichita State leads the all-time series with East Carolina 19-4 but the Pirates were able to snap a 12-game losing streak against the Shockers in last year's series with a 5-3 win in nine innings. ECU is 1-8 all-time at home against Wichita State.
