GREENVILLE, N.C. – Gabby Fowler went 2-for-2 at the plate with three RBI and Anna Sawyer also recorded two hits as East Carolina bounced back to defeat Wichita State, 8-0, in five innings on Saturday at Max R. Joyner Family Stadium.
Erin Parker capped off the dominant afternoon with her first career home run in the bottom of the fifth for the Pirates (16-9, 1-1 American).
ECU got its offense going in the bottom of the second after Macey Ciamillo and Lillian Martineau hit back-to-back singles and Trinity Nichols' sac bunt turned into a run scored after a Shocker error. Chloe Geijer followed up with a sac bunt to score Martineau and give ECU a 2-0 lead.
The Pirates added three more runs in the bottom of the third and Fowler's two-run double in the bottom of fourth extended ECU's lead to 7-0.
After shutting down the Shockers in the top of the fifth, Parker's blast to deep center field in the bottom of the fifth ended the game.
Sydney Rainford (4-2) picked up the win in the circle.
