GREENVILLE, N.C. – Kanisha Anderson went 3-for-4 at the plate and Sydney Rainford earned her second complete game win of the weekend as East Carolina shut out Wichita State, 3-0, to win the series on Sunday at Max R. Joyner Family Stadium.
Gabby Fowler, Trinity Nichols and Erin Parker each added a hit on the day for the Pirates (17-9, 2-1 American) who won a series over Wichita State for the first time in program history.
The Pirates took an early lead of 2-0 and Rainford retired six straight Shockers to keep Wichita State from making a rally.
ECU loaded the bases in the bottom of the fifth and Fowler drew a walk to score Anna Sawyer and increase ECU's lead to 3-0.
Rainford retired six of Wichita State's last seven batters to seal the series for the Pirates.
