Pirates Fall In Eight Innings To South Florida, 3-1

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina softball team dropped its series finale with South Florida on Sunday afternoon, falling 3-1 in eight innings at Max R. Joyner Family Stadium.
Kanisha Anderson led the Pirates (27-22, 11-10 American) with a hit and an RBI but South Florida's two runs in the top of the eighth inning proved to be too much for ECU to overcome.
After USF scored first in the top of the first inning, ECU tied the game at 1-1 on Anderson's RBI single that score Mary-Kathryn Scott in the bottom of the third.
Like most of the series had gone, the next four innings were a pitchers' duel until the Bulls struck with an RBI double and capitalized on an ECU error that eventually scored USF's third run of the game.
Three of ECU's four batters were retired in the bottom of the eighth to end the game.

East Carolina visits Tulsa next weekend for a three-game series beginning on Friday at 6 p.m. on ESPN+.
