Pirates Fall In 10 Innings At Tulsa, 2-1
April 24, 2026 | Softball
Tulsa, Okla. – The East Carolina softball team fell in 10 innings to Tulsa by a score of 2-1 in its series opener with the Golden Hurricane on Friday evening at Collins Family Softball Complex.
Hailey Deter went 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI to lead the Pirates (27-23, 11-11 American) who dropped their second straight game, both of which went extra innings.
Both teams' defenses were stout all game long but Tulsa struck first on a sac fly in the bottom of the fourth. The Pirates had their backs against the wall and were down to their final two outs in the top of the seventh when Lillian Martineau hit a single to center field to set up Deter's game-tying double.Â
After neither team could score in the eighth and ninth innings, Tulsa plated the game-winning run on a Pirate wild pitch.
Julia Apostolakos (14-11) tied a career-high with seven strikeouts in 9.1 innings while Maura Moore threw eight strikeouts in 10 innings for the complete game win.
