Four Pirates Earn All-Conference Accolades
April 29, 2026 | Lacrosse
IRVING, Texas – The East Carolina lacrosse team concluded its successful 2026 regular season with a quartet of American Conference recognitions, the league announced on Wednesday. Sarah Goodison, Emma Magazu and Kayla Wilkes all earned First Team All-Conference honors while Jaime Behar was named to the Second Team. Magazu was one of five unanimous First Team selections.
Â
Goodison, a junior attack from Forest Hill, Md., wrote a story to remember this season, returning from a torn ACL a year ago to lead the Pirates in points and goals with 54 points on 36 goals and 18 assists. She has recorded seven hattricks this season, twice scoring five goals and twice recording seven-or-more points. Goodison capped the regular season with a career-high eight points in a dominant win over Charlotte, tied for second most points in a game in program history.
Â
Magazu, a graduate defender from Newtown, Conn., was a unanimous First Team honoree a year after collecting Defensive Player of the Year honors. It was another terrific year for Magazu, compiling 44 ground balls and 26 caused turnovers. Those 44 ground balls are a career high and just two shy of Alexandra Giacolone's program record. Over the last two seasons, she has entered herself into the program record book with some performances for the ages.
Â
This season, Magazu has recorded six games of four-or-more ground balls and nine games with multiple caused turnovers. As of the end of the regular season, Magazu ranks 22nd in the NCAA in ground balls per game and still top 100 in caused turnovers despite taking each opponent's toughest matchup. Magazu is the first ECU player to earn multiple unanimous All-Conference selections.
Â
Wilkes, a senior midfielder from Sinking Spring, Pa., earned her second consecutive First Team nod after earning Midfielder of the Year recognition last year. Though her offensive stats weren't quite as high this year—in large part thanks to the ascendancy of Goodison—her defensive numbers were unmatched. She broke Magazu's program record with 31 caused turnovers in the regular season, while still posting 33 points on 24 goals and nine assists, 32 ground balls and 28 draw controls. Wilkes went over 100 career points this season, recording a trio of hattricks and multiple points in nine games.
Â
Along with Magazu, Wilkes is one of just three Pirates (Caroline Kimel) to earn multiple First Team selections.
Â
Behar, a senior goalkeeper from Mineola, N.Y., entered the season with high hopes as the Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year and coming on the heels of Second Team honors last season. She's been simply brilliant at times, making 115 saves for a .423 save percentage. Along the way, she moved her way into second in program history in career saves, becoming just the second Pirate ever with 300. Behar put together these numbers with some truly thrilling efforts, including: a career-high 17 saves against San Diego State; 12 saves against Temple, including a game-saving stop with 34 seconds remaining; and nine saves to just 10 goals allowed in the season finale against Charlotte, to name a few.
Â
Behar is the first ECU goalkeeper to earn All-Conference honors in multiple seasons.
Â
Together, these Pirates helped the program to a successful regular season in 2026. It was the third .500-or-better regular season all time, finishing 8-8. The team went 3-3 in American Conference play, the second season in a row with a winning record in league play and the third time in four seasons doing so. The Pirates went 6-1 at home this season, a program record.
Â
Statistically, the team has broken several records including assists in a season, caused turnovers in a season, points in a game, goals in a game and assists in a game. The team won two games by double-digit goals, giving the program 15 such games all time now.
Â
All of this led to a third-place finish for the third time in four years in American Conference play. The team will take on second-seeded No. 25 James Madison on Thursday at 8:15 p.m. ET in the American Conference Semifinals.
