Pirates Fall At Home To Charlotte, 8-1

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Kanisha Anderson went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run for the Pirates but East Carolina fell to Charlotte, 8-1, on Friday at Max R. Joyner Family Stadium.
Mary-Kathryn Scott and Trinity Nichols each had a hit for the Pirates (23-17, 7-7 American) who gave up two multi-run home runs and had their recent offensive struggles return in the loss.
Charlotte quickly went ahead 2-0 on Aubrey Wilson two-run blast in the top of the first but the Pirates pulled within a run in the bottom of the third on Nichols' RBI single.
The Niners blew the game open in the top of the fifth with five runs scored including a three-run homer from Teagan Ritchie to make the score 7-1. Charlotte added an insurance run in the next inning on a near-home run from London Dirks but the ball came back into the outfield for an RBI double.
Sydney Rainford (6-8) took the loss while Aubrey Yarnall (4-2) earned the complete game win.

East Carolina and Charlotte will face off in the series rubber match tomorrow at noon on ESPN+.
