GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina is set to host and compete in the American Conference Softball Championship at Max R. Joyner Family Stadium as the Pirates will take on sixth-seeded North Texas in the quarterfinals on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.Â
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Evan Budrovich (play-by-play) and Maria Trivelpiece (analyst) on the call with Savanna Collins (sideline) reporting from the dugouts.
American Conference First Team member Kanisha Anderson leads ECU at the plate with a .373 batting average and 69 hits, which ranks second in the American. Gabby Fowler (.260) and Anna Sawyer (.315) are the team's top power threats with five home runs each while Trinity Nichols (.308) and Macey Ciamillo (.304) provide secondary offense. Sawyer currently ranks top 10 in program history with 193 career hits and is top five in school history with 40 career doubles. American Conference Second Team member Julia Apostolakos (2.94 ERA, 118 Ks) is the Pirates' top arm in the circle, supported by American Conference All-Freshman Team member Sydney Rainford (3.51 ERA, 61 Ks) and Taylor Apple (4.13 ERA, 25 Ks).Â

North Texas comes off of a 7-6 victory over UTSA in the second round of the tournament on Wednesday evening as Blayze McNemar and Kaycee Slovak both hit home runs to lead UNT's offense.Â
Series History
North Texas leads the all-time series with East Carolina 6-4 as the Mean Green took two of the three in the season series back in April in Denton.
