Sara Lippard has joined the East Carolina softball coaching staff as a volunteer assistant for the 2017 season. She served as a team manager for NC State in 2016 after four years as a utility player for the Wolfpack.
Lippard started 21 games for NC State her senior season in 2015 as the Wolfpack compiled a 38-22 record and made the program’s first-ever Super Regional appearance.
The Wilson, N.C. product started 39 games during her junior season and appeared in a total of 46. She recorded 18 hits, including four home runs, and clubbed her first career grand slam against Virginia Tech at home to lift the Wolfpack to a 6-3 win over the Hokies.
Lippard enjoyed a fruitful freshman campaign for NC State as a versatile part-time starter whose .283 batting average was tops among Wolfpack reserves. She made 15 starts in 40 appearances: eight at catcher, five as designated hitter and two in the outfield. Lippard produced 14 RBI in 60 at-bats with a double, a triple, a home run and a .433 slugging percentage.
