GREENVILLE, N.C. – It's Senior Day at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium as ECU officially completes its 2018 home schedule by hosting Connecticut on Saturday for a 7 p.m. American Athletic Conference clash. The Pirates will honor 20 players - 18 seniors and two juniors - who will dress out for their final collegiate game in Greenville. ECU will try to post back-to-back Senior Day wins after downing Cincinnati in the home finale last season, which also snapped a three-game "send-off " skid dating back to 2014. Additionally, the Pirates will look to tally their third home victory of the year - most since 2016.

THE SERIES
ECU leads 3-1 in a series which only dates back to the Pirates' membership in The American (2014).
SCOTTIE MONTGOMERY VS. THE HUSKIES
Scottie Montgomery has faced Connecticut only thrice as a coach prior to Saturday's matchup ... In addition to a pair of ECU triumphs as a head coach (2016, 2017), he also battled UConn as a wide receivers mentor on Ted Roof's 2007 Duke staff ... The Huskies opened that year with a 45-14 victory over the Blue Devils in Durham.
RANDY EDSALL AGAINST THE PIRATES
While Saturday's contest will be Randy Edsall's second against ECU as a head coach (2017), he did face the Pirates twice as an assistant ... As defensive backs coach at Syracuse, his Orange took a pair of games against ECU with 38-14 and 18-16 victories in 1988 and 1989, respectively.
AN ASSOCIATION OF HUSKIES AND PIRATES
ECU and Connecticut each feature Skip Holtz on its all-time head coach roster page ... Holtz was 34-23 (.596) while guiding the Huskies for five seasons (1994-98) and later led the Pirates to a 38-27 (.585) mark, two Conference USA titles and an unprecedented run of four-straight bowl appearances from 2005 to 2009 before moving on to USF, and ultimately, Louisiana Tech ... In addition to Holtz, four other former (and somewhat) recent ECU staffers have prior associations with UConn.
(STATE OF) CONNECTICUT COACHING CONNECTIONS
Two members of ECU's current full-time coaching staff spent time on collegiate football staff s in the state of Connecticut - both in Fairfield - early during their respective careers ... Running backs coach Jason Nichols directed wide receivers at Sacred Heart in 2001, which included All-America performer Deveron Johnson who became the first NEC player ever selected in the NFL Draft (Cowboys/6th round in 2002) ... Safeties coach Daric Riley had oversight of the Fairfield secondary in 2000, two years before the Stags dropped football.
THE AMERICAN - YEAR FIVE
ECU has posted an 81-66 (.551) all-time mark against current members of the American Conference ... The Pirates currently sport series records against Memphis (15-8), Cincinnati (13-8), Tulane (11-5), UCF (10-7), Temple (8-8), Tulsa (8-6), Houston (7-7), SMU (4-3) Connecticut (3-1), Navy (1-5) and USF (1-8).
THE EAST HAS BEEN A BEAST
ECU owns a 4-14 mark (2-7/home, 2-7/road) against American Athletic Conference opponents in its own East Division since the league began divisional play in 2015 ... The Pirates' 44-7 win against UCF in their '15 road finale, a pair of victories vs. Connecticut (41-3 in 2016, 41-38 in 2017) and a 48-20 triumph against Cincinnati on Senior Day in 2017 represents the only quartet of triumphs ... In all, ECU is 2-1 vs. UConn, 1-3 vs. UCF, 1-2 vs. Cincinnati, 0-4 vs. Temple and 0-4 vs. USF while competing as division mates ... On the flipside, ECU is 2-10 against the West (1-1 vs. SMU, 1-1 vs. Tulsa, 0-2 vs. Houston, 0-2 vs. Memphis, 0-2 vs. Navy, 0-2 vs. Tulane).
LEAGUE, NON-LEAGUE STATISTICAL COMPARISONS
The Pirates have averaged 18.0 points, 93.3 rushing yards, 327.5 passing yards and 420.8 total yards in their six (USF, Temple, Houston, UCF, Memphis, Tulane) AAC games of the 2018 season so far ... By comparison, ECU averaged 33.7 points, 155.7 rushing yards, 305.7 passing yards and 461.3 total yards per game in its three regular season non-conference contests this year ... The Pirates posted a 2-1 non-league ledger this fall (1-3 in '17) and hope to improve their conference record to 1-6 (2-6 last season) when they square off against UConn.
COMPARING 10-YEAR, NINE-GAME RESULTS
ECU's 24-18 loss at Tulane last week marks the second consecutive year the Pirates have "opened" the season with a 2-7 record ... A victory over Connecticut would give ECU a 3-7 ledger, which would match Scottie Montgomery's initial season in Greenville (2016) ... The Pirates haven't enjoyed much recent success during Week 10 of their schedule however, dropping three straight
