Following a two-game road trip to Winthrop and Gardner-Webb, the ECU lacrosse team returns home this week to host Liberty Wednesday, March 21 at 4 p.m. inside Johnson Stadium.
The Pirates are coming off a 15-14 overtime win over Gardner-Webb Sunday in Boiling Springs. Megan Pallozzi scored 40 seconds into the sudden death overtime period to give coach Amanda Barnes and the program its first-ever win. ECU trailed 14-13 with under two minutes play until Mackell Schultes found the back of the net with 50 seconds remaining in regulation.
That was the final of four goals for Pallozzi who is tied for the team lead with Nicole LeGar and Casey Sullivan with each having scored six goals. Each has scored at least one goal in every game along with Ally Stanton.
Sullivan leads the Pirates with nine points and ranks second in assists with three. Emma Bowman has recorded a team-high four assists.
Through three games the Pirates have scored 31 goals, 10 off free position attempts.
The Flames bring a 1-1 record into the contest with a win over Mercer in their opener before losing at No. 7 North Carolina this past weekend.
Brianna McCaffery leads Liberty with four goals, while Jenna Joyal and Hannah Quast have scored three goals each.
