GREENVILLE, N.C. --- ECU snapped a nine-game losing streak and earned its first-ever home win with a 16-2 victory over Delaware State Saturday afternoon at Johnson Stadium. Freshmen Brittany Borchers and Sam Caputo each recorded their first career hat trick to lead the Pirates.

GAME FACTS
- ECU scored the game's first 15 goals en route to it's their largest offensive scoring total of the season. Its previous high was 15 at Gardner-Webb.
- Liz Blumthal, Megan Pallozzi and Madi Bada each scored two goals for ECU. It was Bada's first goals as a Pirate. Morgan Cheripko and Alex Nicoletti also scored their first goal as a member of the ECU lacrosse team.
- All 27 players on the roster saw action.
- The Pirates attempted nearly 20 more shots than the Hornets, 27-8, and had 10 fewer turnovers (7-17).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Blumthal and Caputo each scored two goals in the opening seven minutes as the Pirates built a 6-0 lead with 23:22 to play in the first half.
- Bada scored her first career goal 52 seconds later and then her second with 15:06 left before halftime to give ECU a 9-0 lead.
- Cheripko put ECU ahead 10-0 and the game into running clock mode with 14:06 remaining in the opening half.
- Pallozzi scored the Pirates' 12th and final goal of the first half with 7:21 remaining and then scored their first goal of the second half, 51 seconds in.
- Borchers scored the next two goals for a 15-0 lead with 16:43 to play.
- The Hornets got goals from Akina Wolfe (8:35) and Lauren Perry (3:43).
- Nicoletti scored the final goal of the game with 51 seconds to play.
UP NEXT
The Pirates return to field on Friday, March 30, against Drexel. The first draw is scheduled for 12 noon at Johnson Stadium.
