GREENVILLE, N.C. – With one game on the road and one at home this weekend, the ECU women's lacrosse team will be looking to snap a two-game losing streak. The Pirates will head to Old Dominion for a Friday afternoon matchup before hosting Campbell in a Sunday matinee.
Â
ECU (5-3) has lost two straight games and in each the Pirates were doomed by scoreless stretches in both games. ECU saw Vermont go on an 8-0 run to start the second half on the way to a 18-9 loss to the Catamounts. Megan Pallozzi and Brittany Borchers led ECU offensively, with Pallozzi scoring three goals while Borchers had a goal and two assists.
Â
Borchers leads the team with 23 points on 10 goals and 13 assists, putting her fifth in the American in points per game as well as third in assists per game. Pallozzi leads the Pirates with 17 goals and she has 21 points in total. Nicole LeGar leads the team with 29 draw controls and she is also tied for the conference lead with two game-winning goals. Christina White has started all eight games in the cage for the Pirates and has made 81 saves while racking up a save percentage of .460.
Â
Old Dominion (1-8) beat Winthrop for its lone win of the year, but has lost four games since, all by double digits. Like the Pirates, the Monarchs are moving into a new conference as Old Dominion spends its first season in the Big East after moving from the A-SUN. Glory Johnson leads the team with 27 points on 23 goals and four assists, picking up from last season when she was named First-Team All-ASUN. Sophia Richie has a team-best 17 draw controls while Katie Miller has 16 wins at the circle. Haleigh Wurzel has played in all nine games in the goal and has made 86 saves.
Â
Campbell (2-4) will be playing for the first time in 11 days on Sunday after an 11-9 loss at Furman snapped a two-game winning streak. Annie Pazulski leads the team in points, with five goals and a team-high 11 assists. Meiissa Placek is the team's leader in both goals (10) and drae controls (41). The Camels have held the advantage at the circle, winning 82 draw controls this season compared to just 63 for opponents. Three goalkeepers have appeared for Campbell and Lexie Patton has played the majority of the minutes, getting both wins as well as making 43 saves.
