GREENVILLE, N.C. – For the second straight game, the ECU women's lacrosse team will be challenged by a ranked opponent as the Pirates head south to take on No. 18 Florida on Saturday morning.
Â
ECU (5-9, 0-2 AAC) battled with No. 12 Duke throughout the first half, but the Blue Devils' dominance at the draw circle was too much for the Pirates in the second stanza. Emma Bowman and Brittany Borchers provided much of the offense for ECU. Bowman scored a career-high four goals against Duke to lead ECU while Borchers had a goal to go along with three assists.
Â
Ally Stanton leads ECU in points, scoring 21 goals to go along with 12 assists. Borchers is the team's leader in helpers, as her 17 assists places her third in the conference. Nicole LeGar has been a force both offensively and at the draw circle. She leads the team with 23 goals and 55 draw controls. Megan Pallozzi is the other Pirate with at least 20 goals, having ripped the twine 22 times. In goal, Christina White leads the AAC with 141 saves so far, as well as scooping up 36 ground balls. Hannah Melton leads ECU with 13 caused turnovers while Jordyn Cox has also forced 11 miscues.
Â
Florida (8-6, 2-0 AAC) has won five straight games, including its first two conference games, to move back above .500. All six of the Gators' losses have come to ranked opponents, with five of those coming by three goals or less. Florida opened its conference slate with victories at Temple (15-8) and against Vanderbilt (18-9). Lindsey Ronbeck leads the American Conference with 50 goals along with 12 assists. Shannon Kavanagh (41) and Grace Hause (26) are both in the top-10 of the league in goals. Kavanagh also contributes at the draw circle, winning 55 draw controls, which is just one more than Sabrina Cristodero's 54. Haley Hicklen has played all 13 games in goal and has a save percentage of .465, which is the highest of any goalkeeper that has at least 15 saves.
