GREENVILLE, N.C. – For the first time, the ECU women's lacrosse team will host a ranked team as the Pirates welcome No. 12 Duke to Johnson Stadium on Tuesday night.
Â
ECU (5-8, 0-2 AAC) will be playing its final non-conference game of the season before the Pirates close out the regular season with games against three conference opponents. ECU fell to Cincinnati last weekend, as the Pirates turned the ball over a season-high 21 times. It was the seventh straight loss for ECU after starting the season 5-1.
Â
Christina White finished with 15 saves against the Bearcats, the ninth time this season she's reached double figures in stops. The sophomore goaltender is 13th in the NCAA in saves per game, averaging 10.3. Ally Stanton became the first Pirate to rack up 30 points in a single season, reaching 31 so far after scoring a pair of goals and handing out an assist against Cincinnati. Nicole LeGar is the team's leader in both goals (22) and draw controls (52) while Brittany Borchers has a team-high 14 assists.
Â
Duke (8-5) will be the second ranked team that ECU has faced this season, as the Blue Devils are No. 12 in the IWLCA Coaches Poll. All five of Duke's losses have come to teams ranked in the top 15 of the country, with the Blue Devils coming off a 20-12 setback at No. 1 Boston College. ECU will be tasked with stopping one of the top scorers in the country, as Duke's Charlotte North is second in the NCAA with 57 goals to go along with 19 assists. The Blue Devils have been the best team in the country at the draw circle, winning 67.5% of draws. Olivia Jenner leads Duke with 93 draw controls, putting her third in the nation while Maddie Jenner has 69 draw controls as well. In goal, Gabbe Cadoux has started 11 games and has a save percentage of .395.
