GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina lacrosse team hosts the Radford Highlanders to open the 2023 season on Friday at 1 p.m. in Johnson Stadium. Attendance is free for fans and the game will be available for streaming on ESPN+.

2022 In Review
The Pirates finished with a .500 record for the first time in program history at 9-9 a year ago. The team finished 2-3 in conference play, making the AAC tournament before falling to No. 8 Florida. ECU returns 11 players who started at least one game a season ago and five players who etched their named into the program record book in some category.

Scouting Radford
The Highlanders enter 2023 on the heels of a 2-14 season in which the team struggled mightily, scoring only 112 goals to their opponent's 247. Radford does return their do-it-all midfielder in Margaret "Nudge" Gleason who led the team with 33 points, 24 goals, nine assists, 38 draw controls and eight free position goals. The team also returns defensive leaders in Cameron Counts who led the team with 20 caused turnovers, and goalkeeper Olivia Hunter who made 169 (.406 percentage) saves and led the Highlanders with 29 ground balls.

Series History
The Pirates and Highlanders met for the first time a year ago, a comfortable 13-4 ECU victory in the New River Valley. Three Pirates registered hat tricks in Sophia LoCicero, Nicole LeGar and Ellie Bromley, while Megan Tryniski led the team in points with five on the day.
