Pirates to Compete in AAC Semifinal Thursday

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina lacrosse team will travel to Philadelphia, Pa. on Thursday as they compete in the 2023 AAC Lacrosse Tournament against No. 8 Florida. The semifinal matchup will begin no earlier than 7:15 p.m. after the conclusion of game one. Andrew Luftglass and Crista Samaras will have the call on ESPN+.

Last Time Out
The Pirates fell victim to an elite performance by the fifth-ranked JMU Dukes. Isabella Peterson was as gifted as advertised with her six goals and six draw controls on the game while Rachel Matey also added nine draw controls. Camryn Pennypacker led the Pirates with a pair of goals but JMU held a 7-0 margin after just a quarter of play.

Scouting the Gators
Florida continues to have a phenomenal season with a 14-3 record and all three losses coming to top-10 opponents. Emma LoPinto still leads the Gators offensively with 75 points on 51 goals and 24 assists while Liz Harrison has racked up 91 draw controls, leading five Florida players over 20 draw controls on the season.

Series History
The Pirates and Gators are up to six meetings all time with Florida taking all six. The last meeting was just a few weeks ago when ECU fell in Gainesville, 10-5. It was a tie game in the second quarter before the Gators went on a 5-0 run to open up a lead going into the half. The Pirates wouldn't score again until the fourth quarter when it was a seven-goal game.
