GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina softball team is set to host its first of three home tournaments as the Pirates will hold the Pirate Clash Feb. 16-18 inside Max R. Joyner Family Stadium.
Â
Attendance is free for fans and all ECU games will be streamed via ecupirates.com.
Â
Joining the Pirates in the three-day tournament will be Fairfield, Marshall and Longwood. ECU will take on Fairfield Friday at 4 p.m. before facing Marshall and Fairfield at 12:30 and 3 p.m. respectively and concluding the tournament on Sunday with a doubleheader against Longwood at 12:30 and 3 p.m.
Â
The Pirates (7-0) are off to their best start since 2006 after Anna Sawyer's walk-off three RBI double completed ECU's rally against North Dakota State at home on Tuesday evening. The seven wins are the most in Division I entering the second weekend of competition. ECU's four-run seventh inning marked the fourth time this year that the Pirates have tallied four or more runs in an inning.
Â
Emma Jackson leads ECU at the plate, batting .630 and hitting two home runs in ECU's win over Charleston Southern. Jackson's hot start to the season earned her Player of the Week honors from the American Athletic Conference, the first time a Pirate has garnered that achievement since 2021. Jordan Hatch earned a spot on the AAC Honor Roll after going 3-0 in her three starts with an ERA of 0.86 and 12 strikeouts tossed. ECU leads the country in doubles with 17 on the season as Jackson and Sawyer rank in the top two with six and four.
Â
The Marshall Series
Marshall leads the all-time series 19-17 as the last meeting took place in Greenville on Feb. 12, 2015 with the Thundering Herd prevailing over the Pirates 5-4 in nine innings. Marshall has won five of the last six meetings.
Â
The Fairfield Series
East Carolina leads the all-time series 12-2 including an 8-2 mark at home. The Pirates last faced the Stags on Feb. 28, 2020 when ECU came away with a 4-3 win.
Â
The Longwood Series
ECU leads the all-time series 11-8 but the Lancers have taken three of the last four meetings defeating the Pirates 4-1 on Mar. 7, 2021.
