
Johnson's Dominant Day Helps Pirates Sweep Day Two Of Pirate Clash

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Morgan Johnson went 5-for-6 at the plate and tallied 11 total RBI as East Carolina swept the second day of the Pirate Clash, defeating Marshall and Fairfield in five innings at Max R. Joyner Family Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

ECU's bats were hot all afternoon as the Pirates tallied 25 hits and four home runs to improve to 10-0 on the season, their best 10-game start since the 1992 season when the Pirates started 11-0.

Game One: East Carolina 13, Marshall 1 (Five Innings)
Morgan Johnson went 3-for-3 at the plate with six RBI including a grand slam as part of a 10-run first inning to push East Carolina past Marshall 13-1 on the second day of the Pirate Clash.

The Pirates tallied 12 hits in their first game of the day, seven of which came in the first frame. Emma Jackson and Logan Sutton each tallied two hits and Sutton added four RBI.

After their first inning offensive outburst, the Pirates' Jordan Hatch kept the Thundering Herd out of scoring position for next three innings while a Sutton two-run homer in the third inning sealed the run-rule victory for the Pirates.

Hatch (5-0) only surrendered three hits and one run in four innings of work.

Game Two: East Carolina 8, Fairfield 0 (Five Innings)
Johnson continued her dominant day at the plate with back-to-back home runs as East Carolina run-ruled Fairfield 8-0 in its second game on day two of the Pirate Clash.

ECU racked up another double-digit hit game with 13 and shut down the Stags' bats for the five-inning victory.

After an Annie Kate Dalton single scored Emma Jackson, Johnson blasted a two-run shot to left center to push the Pirates lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the third inning. ECU would quickly add to its lead with five runs in the fourth inning capped off by another Johnson home run that scored three runs.

The Stags would get a couple of runners on base in the top of the fifth but Devin Long would retire Fairfield's final batter to seal the win.

Addy Bullis (2-0) tossed four strikeouts while giving up three hits in four innings for the win.
