Pirates Fall to No. 15 Clemson, 15-4
April 01, 2025 | Lacrosse
CLEMSON, S.C. - The East Carolina lacrosse team lost to No. 15 Clemson, 15-4, on Tuesday evening. Lindsey Marshall was the game's leading scorer for Clemson with six points on four goals and two assists.
The Pirates (3-7, 1-1 AAC) never led in the game as the Tigers (10-4, 4-2 ACC) looked every bit the part of their No. 15 ranking. Clemson entered the game 13th in the NCAA in both offensive and defensive scoring, and 10th in scoring margin, and it showed. ECU struggled mightily to even find shots offensively with just 12 in the game, while the Tigers posted 36 of their own, including 27 on goal.
For her part, Jaime Behar did have a solid game with 12 saves to her 15 goals allowed. It was her second game in a row with as many saves and her fourth game of the year with 12-or-more stops. On the other side, two Clemson goalkeepers saw game action but were forced to make just six combined saves.
The Pirates got their four goals in the game from Riley Matthiesen, Rachel Chessock and Maya Koebke. Matthiesen scored a pair of goals while Chessock and Erin Gulden had the team's lone assists. The goal for Koebke was her first as a Pirate and 46th of her career.
Clemson's freshman draw sensation Kira Balis was phenomenal as usual in the game, collecting 12 draw controls herself to aid a team margin of 16-5. Balis is 14th in the NCAA in the category as just a rookie.
