
Pirates Host Vanderbilt for Saturday Morning Contest

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina lacrosse team is set for a critical American Athletic Conference contest against Vanderbilt at 11 a.m. on Saturday. The game is free to attend for fans and for those unable to attend the contest will be available for streaming on ESPN+ with Dennis Cox and Debbie Taylor on the call.
At three and four in the conference standings, Saturday's game between the Pirates and Commodores has major seeding implications for the American Athletic Conference Tournament. The top four teams in the conference qualify for the tournament.
Saturday will also be Senior Day for the Pirates, celebrating the class of Caroline Meininger, Izzi Seven, Maeci Moore, Leah Bestany, Emily Stratton, Erin Gulden, Emma Magazu and Brynn Knight. The senior ceremonies will take place at the conclusion of the game.
Last Time Out
The Pirates dropped a 20-4 thumping to No. 1 North Carolina on Wednesday. 11 players scored goals for the Tar Heels while Kayla Wilkes led the Pirates with two goals and an assist. Jaime Behar got the start in goal, making 10 saves in over 50 minutes played.
Scouting the Commodores
Vanderbilt enters the contest with a 6-7 record including an even 2-2 clip in American Athletic Conference play. For the season, Jaime Biskup leads the team with 46 points on 32 goals and 14 assists while defensively Kemper Robinson has amassed 22 caused turnovers to go with 30 draw controls. Maddie Barkate has a team high in that category with 49. In cage, it's been Molly Joyce getting the majority of the minutes with 91 saves to 129 goals allowed.
Series History
The Pirates and Commodores have met six times since 2019 with a 5-1 edge to Vanderbilt including a one-goal, 14-13 contest in 2024. Emily Stratton and Regina Di Chiara had hat tricks in the game and Brynn Knight made six saves in the game. Brooke Baker led Vanderbilt with five goals.Â

Matthiesen was named to the American Athletic Conference's Weekly Honorable Mention list after scoring five goals with three ground balls and an assist in two games last week.
