Pirates Announce 2025 Soccer Schedule
May 20, 2025 | Soccer
GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina soccer team has unveiled its 17-game schedule for the 2025 season, the program announced Tuesday. It will be the Pirates' first season under the leadership of head coach Emily Buccilla.
Â
The Pirates open the regular season at home with a pair of high-caliber contests in August. First, the team will host the Liberty Flames on Aug. 14 to kick things off—the evening will feature a celebration of the program's 2024 American Athletic Conference Tournament Championship. The squad will follow up the Liberty contest with marquee matchup of the non-conference slate, welcoming the NC State Wolfpack into the unfriendly confines of Johnson Stadium on Aug. 17.
Â
The team will head out on the road for the first time for a pair of games in the capital of Virginia with dates against Richmond (Aug. 21) and VCU (Aug. 24).
Â
The Pirates return home on Aug. 28 for a home rivalry meeting with UNCW before bouncing back on the road for another in-state contest with App State (Sept. 4). That contest will be the first with the Mountaineers since 1997. The Pirates are 1-0-1 all time in the series and have never faced App State in Boone.
Â
A road contest with Coastal Carolina (Sept. 7) ends non-conference play to set up a home tilt with Tulsa on Sept. 11 to officially kick of the Pirates' title defense.
Â
It's a short stay at home, however, as they Pirates soon head out on the road for games against South Florida (Sept. 18) and North Texas (Sept. 28). The Pirates defeated South Florida in a penalty-shootout thriller in the semifinal round of the American Tournament last season.
Â
Florida Atlantic (Oct. 2) and Temple (Oct. 9) come to Johnson Stadium for a needed homestand before the team heads back out on the road to face UAB on Oct. 12.
Â
The premier matchup of the conference slate comes on Oct. 19 as perennially ranked Memphis, who will assuredly be once again one of the favorites to win the league, comes to Greenville for the awaited rematch of the 2024 American Athletic Conference Championship Game.
Â
A road swing through Texas at Rice and UTSA on Oct. 23 and Oct. 26 sets up the team's home finale, and another rivalry game, with Charlotte coming to town on Oct. 30.
Â
The American Athletic Conference Tournament will take place on Nov. 3-9, once again at the Premier Sports Complex in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.
