GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina lacrosse team hits the road to begin American Conference play on Saturday to take on James Madison (RV) in a noon contest at Sentara Park. The game will be available for streaming on ESPN+.

Last Time Out
The Pirates last a road contest to Campbell on Sunday, 16-9. Rachel Chessock was the lone ECU player with more than one goal as she recorded a hat trick. The team never led in the game.

Scouting James Madison
The Dukes enter the game with a 3-4 record carrying a trio of losses to top-10 opponents but more recently a 16-4 win over Liberty in their last outing. The team is led by Payton Root's 26 points on 11 goals and 15 assists while Jordan Peterson has registered a team-high 18 goals. Harlowe Healey leads the group with an impressive 51 draw controls while in cage it's been Abigail Beattie with all seven starts and 39 saves made on a .375 save percentage.

Series History
The Pirates and Dukes have met three times, all JMU victories. However, most recent game, an April 26 meeting in Greenville last season, was a thriller, a 14-13 overtime decision which decided the 2026 American Conference regular season title race. JMU scored the final two goals of regulation before scoring in the extra period for the win.

The program has made it a focus to strive not only for success on the field and in the classroom, but as representatives in the community. As a team, the Pirates logged 595.5 hours of community service in the fall.

Aspire
Assistant coach Kaelin Hogan graduated from the IWLCA's Aspire Program this spring. According to the organization, "The IWLCA Aspire program was designed to enhance coaches' professional skills, capabilities, and self-awareness through the dynamic blended learning approach."

At the Helm
The Pirates are entering year three under the leadership of head coach Brittany Dipper. Dipper has compiled an 14-25 record with a marked jump from her first to second seasons building anticipation for a successful 2026 campaign.
