Last Time Out
The Pirates used a fast start and a late defensive stand to secure an 8-7 victory over Old Dominion on Saturday afternoon. The Pirates set the tone early, racing out to a 5-0 lead in the opening quarter. Rachel Chessock paced the attack with two goals, while Sarah Goodison, Sophia Apple, and Kayla Wilkes each added one. Defensively, Emma Magazu anchored a unit that held the Monarchs scoreless through the first period. Old Dominion responded in the second quarter, getting on the board with a goal from Lydia Laney before mounting a 4-0 run that tied the game at 5-5 with 2:51 remaining in the third. After a prolonged scoring drought, East Carolina regained control in the fourth quarter. Goals from Katelyn Sclafani, Grace Moore, and Jamie Collender gave the Pirates the edge heading into the final minutes. The Monarchs made one last push, scoring twice in the final three minutes, but ECU's defense held firm to preserve the one-goal victory.
