GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina softball team concludes its four-game homestand on Tuesday evening when the Pirates host in-state foe NC State at Max R. Joyner Family Stadium.
First pitch is set for 6 p.m. and the game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Josh Schreiber (play-by-play) and Courtney Layton (analyst) on the call. Admission is free to the public.
ECU is coming off a weekend series win over conference rival Charlotte with the Pirates winning the series opener, 6-4, on Thursday to snap a five-game slide and shutting out the 49ers in the series finale on Saturday, 2-0.
Kanisha Anderson (.387) comes off a strong week at the plate in which she batted .667 and recorded eight hits to earn American Conference Honorable Mention and has recorded a hit in 16 consecutive games. Trinity Nichols (.343), Anna Sawyer (.308) and Jenna Krol (.303) join Anderson as players batting above .300 on the team. Julia Apostolakos (3.20 ERA, 73 Ks) and Sydney Rainford (3.42 ERA, 46 Ks) lead the Pirates in the circle. Apostolakos is coming off a complete game shut out win in the series finale against Charlotte.
Scouting the Wolfpack
Maia Townsend leads NC State at the plate with a .381 batting average and 45 hits while two-way threat Morgen Talley leads the team in the circle with a 3.20 ERA and 78 strikeouts and also providing 34 hits and nine home runs.
Series History
NC State leads the all-time series with East Carolina 18-9 as the Wolfpack have won the last three meetings between the two teams. ECU is 3-8 at home against the Wolfpack and is looking for its first win over NC State since Apr. 29, 2023, and first home win over the Wolfpack since Apr. 15, 2018.
