DENTON, Texas - The East Carolina women's cross country team finished in fourth place, while the men's team took ninth at the 2013 Conference USA Championships Saturday morning at the Eag;e Point Cross Country Course on the campus of the University of North Texas.
Redshirt senior Brooke Kott earned first team all-conference honors for the second time in her career with a seventh-place finish in the women's 5K race, turning in a time of 17:37.67. Kott also achieved the feat during the 2011 season.
Redshirt junior Stefanie Fresenius fell one spot shy of third team honors, crossing the finish line in 22nd place with a time of 18:02.65.
Tulsa and UTSA tied for the league championship with 67 points apiece - the first-ever tie in Conference USA cross country history. North Texas took third place (105), followed by the Pirates (152) and Charlotte (155) in fourth and fifth.
In the men's race, redshirt junior Chase Miller earned third team all-conference recognition with an 18th-place showing and a time of 26:07.40 in the 8K event.
Tulsa won the men's race for the fourth year in a row with 26 points, followed by North Texas (63), Rice (97), UTEP (98) and Middle Tennessee (155) to round out the top five.
ECU will take two weeks off before sending runners to the NCAA Regionals in Charlottesville, Va., on Nov. 16.
