
Meet Day: East Carolina Continues Campaign At Navy Invitational

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina cross country program looks to build on its strong season-opening performance, traveling to Maryland for the Navy Invitational. The women's 6K is scheduled for 9 a.m. with the men's 8K to follow at 10:15 a.m.
Teams scheduled to compete in addition to the Pirates and host Midshipmen include Bowie State, Millersville, Northern Virginia Community College and UMBC.
The ECU women placed second at the Covered Bridge Open back on Aug. 30 with a total of 63 points – second only to nationally-ranked Florida State. The men took third.
Freshman Laura Green was the top performer for East Carolina as she finished the 5,200-meter course in a time of 18:36.90. Senior Nuria Tillo-Prats was 11th overall with a time of 18:45.81. Senior Mikayla Stoudt and sophomores Abby Yourkavitch and Lindsay Yentz also ended up in the top 20, taking 17th, 19th and 20th respectively.
On the men's side, freshman Chase Osborne ran well in his first collegiate producing an 8K time of 26:12.32 to end up 12th. Junior Josh Spare, sophomore Ethan Hageman and senior Dean Abushouk also finished in the top 20, snatching 16th, 17th and 18th.
Following the Navy Invitational, the Pirates will take a couple of weeks to prepare for the Paul Short Run. That meet is scheduled for Oct. 5 in Bethlehem, Pa.
