GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina lacrosse team will travel to Chapel Hill to face the No. 9 North Carolina Tar Heels on Tuesday at 5 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ACCNx with Nick Klos and Andie Aldave on the call.
Last Time Out
The Pirates leveled the score three times but never made it over the hump in a seven-goal loss at William & Mary 10 days ago. Kayla Wilkes recorded a hat trick in the game but the team allowed 19 goals on 23 shots on goal by the Tribe. The Pirates gave all three goalkeepers time in cage but only Jaime Behar (2) was even able to muster more than a single save.
Scouting the Tar Heels
North Carolina enters the game after a bounce-back blowout win over Clemson in their last game. The Heels are 5-2 on the season with both losses coming in high-level games against top-10 foes. Ashley Humphrey is pacing the team with 33 points on the year on 12 goals and 21 assists while Alecia Nicholas has been getting the majority of the playing time in goal and has made the best of it with just 8.62 goals allowed per game and a .452 save percentage so far on the year.
Series History
The Pirates and Tar Heels have met twice all time, both UNC wins. It was a blowout in Chapel Hill in 2019 but quite a different story a season ago. North Carolina won but not without a challenge as the Pirates led by as many as three and led 8-6 with 12:55 remaining before the Tar Heels scored six unanswered to take the win.
