
Pirates Set to Wrap Up Season at Mercer

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina lacrosse team will look to finish the 2024 season on a winning streak as they travel to Macon, Ga. to do battle with the Mercer Bears at 2 p.m. on Monday. The game will not be available for streaming.
Last Time Out
The Pirates took the lead early and held off multiple comeback attempts as they defeated Old Dominion in their home finale on Saturday, 11-10. Five Pirates scored multiple goals in the effort, including Erin Gulden who recorded the game winner with 2:00 remaining in the contest before Brynn Knight saves Old Dominion's final tying effort. Knight got the win in goal with 11 saves while Gulden posted a team-high five draw controls to lead the Pirates to a positive margin on the draw for the first time in a while.
Scouting the Bears
Mercer has had a tremendous season, entering the game with a 9-5 overall record and a 6-0 mark in Big South play. The Bears enter the game after a 22-5 thumping of Winthrop last time out and have now scored 22-plus goals in three of their last four games. Gabby DiVirgilio leads that charge with 40 goals as part of a 67-point campaign to this point in the season. Katie Vanderline has gotten most of the run in goal for Mercer, racking up 105 saves on the year.
Series HistoryÂ
The Pirates and Bears met for the first time last season which went to Mercer by a 13-8 score. Mercer took command with a 5-1 fourth quarter in that game after Ellie Bromley tied the game with 14:39 on the clock. Erin Gulden led ECU with a three-goal, four-point outing that day.
Record Watch
Frances Kimel has 30 assists on the season, just two away from matching her own program record for a single season. With 30 goals, Erin Gulden has entered the top five in program history for a single season with a chance to climb further on Monday.
Alexandra Giacolone has 21 caused turnovers on the year, just four off of her own program single season record.
