GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina lacrosse team resumes American Athletic Conference play looking for its first league win at noon on Saturday as they travel to take on the Temple Owls on the road. The game will be available for streaming on ESPN+ with Kevin Copp and Erica Kauffman Dalia on the call.
Last Time Out
The Pirates nearly got the signature win they were looking for in a 14-13 loss to Duke at home on Tuesday. The team had the ball in the waning seconds with a chance to tie, having scored a trio of goals in the final minute to claw back into the game, but were unable to convert. Three Pirates—Erin Gulden, Katelyn Sclafani and Kayla Wilkes—registered hat tricks in the game, Wilkes starring on the day with nine draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers as well, including the final four draw controls of the game.
Scouting the Owls
Temple has similarly struggled to start the season with their 2-8 record, including an 0-1 start to American Athletic Conference play, losing a close game against Pitt at home on Tuesday. Erin King leads the Temple offense with 24 points on 21 goals and three assists while Sabrina Martin leads the defense with 18 caused turnovers as well as a team-high 41 draw controls. Taylor Grollman has gotten the majority of the minutes in goal with 107 saves to 131 goals allowed
Series History
Temple has dominated the all-time series with the Pirates, 7-0, including a 13-8 win in Greenville last season. Frances Kimel posted six points on three goals and three assists in defeat as an 8-1 start for the Owls spelled doom for ECU.
