Last Time Out
The Pirates won a back-and-forth battle with Charlotte to clinch their spot in the American Athletic Conference Tournament on Saturday. Rachel Chessock scored a career-high five goals in the, getting scoring support from Erin Gulden, Riley Matthiesen and Kayla Wilkes who all scored a pair of goals while Grace Moore notched two assists for her first career multi-point game. The 49ers attempted a comeback but four fourth-quarter draw controls by Grace McCarthy, including the game-sealer with 1:07 to play, helped to put the game away.
Scouting the Tribe
William & Mary enters the contest with a 5-9 overall mark, including a 1-6 clip in CAA play. The team is battling through an ongoing four-game skid and will look to get back in the win column on Tuesday. Paige Gilbert leads the team with 45 points for the season while Anna Dawson paces the squad with 33 goals. Gilbert also has a team high with 48 draw controls while Kate Draddy has recorded 45. In goal, it's been all Marin Wilhelm, playing every single minute with 125 saves and a .385 save percentage.
Series History
The Pirates and Tribe have met twice before, an ECU home win in 2022 and a road loss in 2024. Kayla Wilkes notched a hat trick in the loss but it was Paige Gilbert who starred on the day with six goals to lead all scorers as William & Mary finished the game with a 7-1 fourth quarter.
