GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina lacrosse team is back at home for a contest with Elon at 1 p.m. on Saturday on Bill Clark Homes Field at Johnson Stadium. The game is free for fans to attend and will be available for streaming on ecupirates.com for those unable to make it out.
Last Time Out
The Pirates fell to Coastal Carolina last Saturday afternoon, 12-8. Coastal Carolina got out to a hot start in the game going up 3-0 within the first eight minutes. Kayla Wilkes responded with a pair of goals for the Pirates to cut the deficit to one, before Nikki Seven added one more to put the Chanticleers ahead 4-2 after one period.Coastal Carolina outscored East Carolina 3-2 in the second period. The Pirates received goals from Sarah Goodison and Sophia Apple. Wilkes completed her hattrick to start the third. However, shortly after, and in the pivotal point in the game, with 8:50 left in the third period, Wilkes received her second yellow card, putting her out for the remainder of the game. In the fourth, Goodison tacked on two more to give her the second hattrick of her career. CJ Kuiken followed with her first goal of the season, but to no avail as the Chanticleers would hold off a late surge from the Pirates to win, 12-8.
Scouting Elon
The Phoenix enter the game at 2-0 thanks to wins over Queens and Old Dominion in their first two contests. Across those two games, three players have tallied five-or-more goals, paced by Ana Lee Vandiver with her six goals and three assists. In goal, Caitlin Walsh returns from last season and has played every minute across the opening two games with 14 saves made. As a team, Elon has a 25-17 on draw controls so far on the season and have converted 54 total shots into 23 goals.Â
Series History
The Pirates and Phoenix have met three times, all in the last three seasons, with a 2-1 edge to Elon. ECU won the first meeting in 2023 but have dropped the last two, including a 12-7 game last season. Elon scored the final five goals of that game after the contest was tied up early in the third quarter. Ana Lee Vandiver led the Phoenix with three goals in the game while Kayla Wilkes registered a hat trick of her own for the Pirates. Jaime Behar got the nod in goal for ECU, making eight saves, while Caitlin Walsh used eight saves of her own to earn the win for Elon.
In The Community  Â
The program has made it a focus to strive not only for success on the field and in the classroom, but as representatives in the community. As a team, the Pirates logged 595.5 hours of community service in the fall.
Aspire
Assistant coach Kaelin Hogan graduated from the IWLCA's Aspire Program this spring. According to the organization, "The IWLCA Aspire program was designed to enhance coaches' professional skills, capabilities, and self-awareness through the dynamic blended learning approach."
At the Helm
The Pirates are entering year three under the leadership of head coach Brittany Dipper. Dipper has compiled an 12-22 record with a marked jump from her first to second seasons building anticipation for a successful 2026 campaign.
