April 06, 2024 | Lacrosse
GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina lacrosse team lost to No. 10 Florida, 19-7, on Saturday in Johnson Stadium. Caroline Meininger and Erin Gulden had career games in the loss.
Florida (12-2, 3-0 AAC) took the lead early and never led up as they forced a running clock for much of the second half. Maggi Hall scored five goals while Emily Heller and Sarah Falk both contributed four tallies for the Gators. Liz Harrison was dominant on the draw as usual with 11 draw controls to pace Florida to a 19-9 final margin.
The Pirates (3-10, 0-4 AAC) were led by a brilliant performance by Gulden who posted four points with a hat trick and an assist, four draw controls and six ground balls, both career highs. Meininger was a bright spot as well, six ground balls of her own to go with a program single-game record six caused turnovers on the day.
Frances Kimel contributed as she often does with a four-point outing on two goals and two assists - her 31st consecutive game played in which she's recorded at least one point.
Still, the Pirates were unable to keep pace with the high-scoring Gators who entered the game with 20-plus goals in eight of their last 11 games.
